Reactive Power Optimization in Integrated Electricity and Gas Systems

Volt/VAR optimization (VVO) is one important operation in distribution systems to maintain acceptable voltage profiles. However, the high penetration of renewable generation poses severe challenges VVO, leading deviation and fluctuation. This further complicated by growing coupling between electricity natural gas systems. To resolve unacceptable under energy system interdependency, this article proposes a cooptimization VVO for an integrated (IEGS) with uncertain generation. A two-stage data-driven distributionally robust developed model coordinated problem, which determines schemes dispatch corrective adjustment through active power regulation reactive support both day-ahead real-time stage. semidefinite programming reformulated ensure tractability proposed problem solved constraint framework. Simulation studies are conducted on 33-bus-6-node IEGS. Case demonstrate that interdependency reduces significant cost rise. It, thus, can benefit operators powerful tool manage fewer costs but integrate more while maintaining supply quality.
